In Sintra, Portugal's Quinta da Regaleira there are Initiation Wells near the back of the location that were once used for cerimonial purposes, not drinking water. The steps are slippery and the bottom is 88 feet from the top. Once at the bottom, you can take a tunnel to another well and out to a ground level which does not require going back up the stairs.
