Rawhiti Caves

Last updated: January 28th, 2024

Background

On Friday, January 27th, 2023, I visited the Rawhiti Cave near Takaka, Nelson-Tasman, New Zealand. While hiking, it was raining and the track was very muddy. It was useful to have poles. Once in the cave, the rain helped to make dripping sounds. This made the cave more interesting to be inside of due to the ambient sound.

There were few people on the hike. The parking lot for it is quite small. I was the only person at the cave while I was there, I saw two groups leaving while I was headed to it and two groups going up to it while I was leaving. It was free to do.
