Crater Lake

Impression

Crater Lake, located in Oregon's Crater Lake National Park, is a 6x5 mile wide lake that was formed from by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States.

During my visit, there was heavy smoke in the air from a nearby forest fire. This made viewing the lake in its entirety difficult. The smell of smoke was thick in the air.

At Crater Lake you can swim and camp. There was also some snow present in August while I was there. It's possible to drive around the lake and hike in various spots, going all the way down to the water.
