Background
On Friday, January 1st, 2021, I hiked to Druid Arch in Utath's Canyonlands National Park.
I started the hike at 11:45AM and completed around sunset around 5:40PM. Along the way, I took a wrong turn towards Pinnacle Point and had to backtrack. The hike required some scrambling, at times on steep sections, as well as climbing a metal ladder and using a metal rod that had been placed there. The final section is the most challenging part.
Druid Arch is a uniquely shaped arch that is in somewhat of a triangle. Some sections of the hike helped to have microspikes due to the snow and ice present at this time of year. Along the hike I ran into someone I saw the day before in Devils Garden and met someone else who runs a food bank. On the way back we shared some hiking stories and recommendations. The hike is a little over 10 miles long and given the length of the hike, it would be best to bring a headlamp just in case.
After the hike, I camped outside the park at Creek Pasture Campground. There were some other people off in the distance but this was BLM land and I found a spot without a reservation.
