Death Valley

Impression

I woke up at Amargosa Opera House and Hotel (supposedly haunted) and made my way through many of the main spots in Death Valley, California. I went during Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend so there were many people around. Despite this, the roads are quite empty and tempting to speed on. Single car roll overs are said to be the leading cause of death in Death Valley.

In the morning, I started at Zabriskie Point around just after sunrise and made it to Ubehebe Crater. Form here I continued for over 3 hours on a washboard road to Racetrack Playa where I spent the night. The weather was cool during the day and about 45 degrees Fahrenheit at night, I believe I woke up with the temperatures near freezing.
